Join Us: AAPD National Community Event Wednesday, April 29, 6:30 PM ET

Dear AAPD Community,

In two weeks, our community will gather virtually for AAPD’s 2026 National Community Event!

This annual, virtual event brings together our national community of disabled people and allies to celebrate our hard-won progress, celebrate disability culture, and take action together to protect disability rights.

During the event, we’ll highlight our 2026 Paul G. Hearne Emerging Leader Awardees:

  • Katie “KD” Dracker, who founded Clear the Air ATX (CTA), an organization dedicated to providing access to free high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) purifiers and community education to reduce the spread of airborne pathogens and impacts of post-viral illnesses

  • Brittanie Hernandez-Wilson, who is launching a new program called “Our Stories, Our Care” focused on disability justice storytelling and care-rooted advocacy to defend Medicaid and home care in California

The National Community Event is completely free, virtual, and open to all members of the disability community and our allies.

Reserve your spot now at this link to ensure you receive the link to stream at home.

We can’t wait to see you there,
The AAPD Team
